Effective August 14, 2026. This policy sits alongside the Terms of Service and is part of them.
SPURTS is a game of sports knowledge and nerve. The Daily Drop, Sparks, SPURTS IQ, Opinions Score, and the boards only mean anything if people play honestly. This policy is the short list of what that means.
By using SPURTS you agree to this policy. Violations may result in score adjustments, removal from boards, account suspension, or a permanent ban, at our sole discretion.
The short version
One of you, one account. Running a second one to pad a ranking gets both of them.
Each person may operate exactly one SPURTS account. Creating or operating additional accounts — for any reason, including to bypass a suspension, to inflate a ranking, or to occupy more than one place on a board — is prohibited. Accounts found to be duplicates may all be suspended and their records voided.
The short version
Some of the names on the board are ours, not people. A new app with an empty leaderboard is a sad place, so we seed it. They cannot win anything, and they cannot cost you anything.
SPURTS operates accounts that are not real players — test, demonstration, editorial, and automatically generated accounts whose activity we produce, including by automated processes running on a schedule.
These accounts appear on public leaderboards, in rankings and standings, in participation and player counts, and in community activity such as posted takes, comments, and upvotes, alongside real players and without being individually labelled. We do not represent that every name, take, vote, or count in the Service belongs to an individual human player.
They are excluded from every prize, promotion, drawing, payout, and winner selection. Because SPURTS IQ and Opinions Score are calculated relative to the whole field, simulated activity forms part of the field those ratings are measured against. Full terms are in Section 9 of the Terms.
The short version
The whole game is what is already in your head. Looking it up is not cheating so much as missing the point — but on a live item, it is also against the rules.
SPURTS tests your own recall and judgment, in the moment. While an item is live, searching the web, consulting reference material, or having another person or tool answer for you violates this policy.
Answers and all in-game actions must reflect your own judgment. You may not use bots, scripts, automated answer-submission tools, scrapers, or any software that interacts with the Service outside a standard web browser or the official app.
Coordinating with other players to manipulate results, standings, ratings, or any board is prohibited. This includes sharing answers on live items, pooling or recruiting accounts to occupy board positions, and organised voting to inflate or suppress another player’s Opinions Score. Where a prize promotion is offered, any organised effort to obtain more than the entries you are entitled to is likewise prohibited.
The short version
Once you commit, it is done. That is the deal that makes the score mean something.
Each item locks the moment you submit it, and timed items lock when their timer expires. Attempting to alter an answer after lock — by any means, including exploiting network latency, direct API access, or timing bugs — is cheating. Answers submitted or altered after lock will be voided and the account may be flagged.
Sparks, SPURTS IQ, and Opinions Score are game records earned through honest play. They are not money and cannot be bought, sold, or transferred between players. You may not attempt to inflate, transfer, or fabricate them, exploit the scoring system, or otherwise manufacture standing you did not earn. We reserve the right to void scores and adjust standings obtained in violation of this policy.

Trash talk is part of the game. Harassment is not. The line is simple: go after the take, never the person.

Find a hole, tell us. We would rather owe you a thank-you than hand you a ban.
If you find a bug, scoring error, or vulnerability, report it to us rather than exploiting it. Exploiting bugs for advantage — including gaming the scoring system, bypassing locks, or manipulating any balance or count — will result in immediate account action. Good-faith bug reporters will not be penalised.
Sports results sometimes change after the fact — official stat corrections, overturned calls, postponed events. We reserve the right to re-grade affected items and adjust standings when source data changes materially, and we will aim to be transparent when a significant correction occurs. We may also manually adjust scores, void answers, or reverse credits in response to confirmed rule violations. Manual adjustments are logged internally.

Enforcement decisions are made at our sole discretion. We are not obligated to disclose specific evidence or to follow a formal appeal process, though we will consider good-faith appeals sent to the address below.
